China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Ltd. (CSAIL) has launched several clean energy-based greenfield projects in Pakistan with a total installed capacity of over 3,000 MW.

Among these projects, the Karot Hydropower Station was named as a priority project within the CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) in a joint statement issued by the Chinese and Pakistani governments.

Karot Hydropower Station is located on the Jhelum River in Pakistan, 1km upstream from the Karot Bridge in Punjab, Pakistan. With an installed capacity of 720 MW, the project generates an average annual electricity output of 3,206 GWh.
