The Chaglla Hydropower Station began construction in May 2011 and commenced commercial operation in September 2016. The station is located 415 km from the Peruvian capital, Lima, in the Huallaga River valley east of the central Andes Mountains. The catchment area above the dam site covers 7,150 km??. The station has a total installed capacity of 0.456GW and generates an average annual output of 2.513 TWh.
